We were not able to get the crystals to grow at all.
There are a few reasons the crystals might not grow. Maybe the powder didn't dissolve completely. Or maybe the room temperature fluctuated too much. Whatever the reason, we want to help you fix it. Give us a call at 1-800-590-5987 or email us at cs@fatbraintoys.com. We'll be happy to send you a new one as well as a few tips if you need 'em!

This was fun for my grandkids. The excitement of watching it grow into a fun hedgehog. I wouldn't say it was a toy to play with but maybe something for their desk or a succulent garden

My grandchildren loved growing the crystals! I was so happy I am getting another as a gift for another child!

The product is definitely pictured better than it turns out. We had 2 different hedgehogs and grew them on 2 different occasions and they both turned out less than expected (comparing to what was pictured on box). They still turned out cute and the kids have them in their room. It was a fun experiment to have them do. The darker color (blue) made it hard to watch the changes, but we were able to see the changes with the pink one.

The crystal growing hedgehog was a huge hit with my 5-year-old family friend; it is now a beloved member of the family and renamed...Crystal.

The toy was for my granddaughter and she loved it! She wants the blue one now!

My kids loved doing this project. It's definitely not a toy that kids will "play with," but it's a neat one time only science project.

I thought it was a fun little experiment that we could do together. Fat Brain was great about replacing after first hedgehog didn't grow crystals. I emailed them & they sent another one within a week. It got my grandson away from the computer, so it was a win win.

Must follow directions exactly. Younger kids may need assistance.

The crystal growing hedgehog in blue does not grow crystals - and we've tried three different times! Nothing. The pink one worked great. So the granddaughter is tickled and the grandson is vexed. Avoid.

This little hedgehog project was unsuccessful. We followed the instructions word for word but crystals did not grow hardly at all. Disappointing!

My grandson loved watching something grow as quickly as it did. I should have gotten one for his brother too.

Sadly despite two attempts and Fat Brain Toys wonderfully giving me a second free one, I couldn't get the crystals to grow!

My niece received one for Christmas from me. She put it together and lived the orange Hedgie. Her request was for one in pink which will be an Easter gift. This isn't a huggable toy, rather a scientific experiment. I'll keep getting the colors for her.

We had more crystals grow at the bottom of the container than on the hedgehog itself. Disappointed.

Product is junk! The plastic contains supplied - cracked & split as soon as the hot water was poured in - thus all the crystal growing solution leaked out resulting in 2 extremely disappointed children.

This is a cool science project. It worked great. The instructions say all the chemicals are very hazardous. This is too cute to be so dangerous. It says not to do this in a bedroom or where people eat. I am not sure what to do with it. Is the hedgehog okay to display or does it too get disposed of after? The instructions also say to dispose of liquid in a hazardous waste drop off. Not the best toy but very cool. Only get it for a responsible 10+ year old interested in science.
